What Should I Expect With Laser Hair Removal Recovery?

Besides giving you smooth and hairless skin, laser hair removal does not require any intense downtime. It is recommended that you stay out of the sun for a minimum of two weeks before and after your laser treatment to ensure that you do not suffer from any adverse reactions. After your laser hair removal treatment, you can get back to your normal daily activities; however, it is important that you do not wear any makeup or use any topical products (creams, lotions, deodorant, or perfume) for the first 24 hours after your laser hair removal treatment. It is also important that you keep the area as clean and dry as possible. If you experience any discomfort, you can apply a wet washcloth or ice to the treated area. Each patient is different, and this treatment is case-by-case. Patients can be happy with their results and stick to maintenance treatment sessions, which are typically every two to three months, or one to two times a year, depending on their individual needs. If by the end of the sixth session patients need more treatment, then a second package may be offered. However, from experience, one six-session package is usually all that is required. 

The reality is that everyone will respond differently to laser hair removal treatments. Some patients may see long-lasting results, with the hair being removed permanently, while other men and women may see some hair regrowth over the next few months or years. That being said, it has been shown that 80 percent of the hair treated by laser energy is permanently removed. So, while you may need to have maintenance treatments every few months, the amount of hair treated will be significantly less than you had at the beginning of your laser hair removal journey.
