Real beauty starts here at Sanctuary Medical Aesthetic Center!

Located in Boca Raton & Fort Lauderdale and serving the residents of West Palm Beach and all of South Florida, Sanctuary Medical Aesthetic Center offers vein disease treatments to those desiring cosmetic dermatology.

Vein disease, which affects millions of men and women, is a disorder that stems from excessive pressure from the backward flow of blood in the veins, resulting, most commonly, in blood pooling in leg veins. For the most part, it is an hereditary disease.

The most common vein diseases that we treat at Sanctuary Medical Aesthetic Center are:

  • Spider Veins

What are the most common treatments for spider veins?

At Sanctuary Medical Aesthetic Center, we bring together injections (sclerotherapy) and laser treatments to treat veins of different sizes. Veins that are bluer in color are usually treated with sclerotherapy; smaller red ones are treated with lasers.

Sclerotherapy. Sclerotherapy involves injecting a solution into the spider veins which causes them to collapse and to be absorbed back into the body. The blood flow is re-routed through healthy veins.

Laser Treatment. Laser energy is applied to spider veins causing them to seal shut. Your body absorbs the veins over time. This non-invasive procedure causes very little discomfort and is safe for most skin types.

Who is at risk for abnormal veins in the legs?

There are several factors influencing the probability of developing abnormal leg veins: age, gender, current medical conditions, and medical history. Other conditions such as pregnancy, obesity, and even certain professions put individuals at a higher risk for developing abnormal veins due to increased pressure on the legs. Also, those with fair skin have a greater propensity to develop spider veins due to sun exposure.

What can I do to prevent spider veins?

Even though spider veins are largely hereditary, there are things you can do to minimize the risk. If your job involves standing for long periods of time, make sure to take breaks where you can elevate your legs; maintain a proper diet along with regular exercise; avoid wearing high heels for long periods of time. And, if you have fair skin, always wear sunscreen on your face in order to prevent spider veins on your cheeks.

Will my insurance cover treatment for abnormal veins?

Most often, spider veins are NOT covered by insurance plans as they are usually considered to be cosmetic. However, if procedures like sclerotherapy for abnormal veins do not work over time, and more serious treatments are needed to correct abnormal veins and relieve pain, insurance may cover some or all of the treatments. Following your consultation, you can discuss your insurance with the staff. We are happy to help you with the process of determining whether your treatments are covered by your insurance.

What is the cost of vein treatment in Boca Raton & Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach, FL?

The cost of vein treatment varies for every patient, depending on the nature of the issues and the type of procedures to treat your abnormal veins. During your initial consultation, we are happy to discuss available financing options, as well as help you determine if your health insurance covers any of the procedures.
