Sanctuary Medical Center employs a great team of physician assistants as part of our team. Physician assistants, or PAs, are medical professionals that work side-by-side with physicians and are licensed to practice medicine under the supervision of a physician. A PA must be a graduate of an accredited PA program and must be nationally certified and state-licensed in order to practice.
Every state, as well as the District of Columbia, allows certified and licensed PAs to both practice medicine and prescribe medication. They perform physical exams, can diagnose and treat illnesses and diseases, order and read lab tests and perform many other duties of a regular physician, but only under supervision. An important job of PAs is to assist with surgery and provide both counseling and planning for patient care. For more information about our physicians assistants, please click the links below.
